About Us
Core Senior Safety was built because the gap was real, and too many families were falling into it.
If you have ever sat with a friend while they tried to figure out what their parent was entitled to after a hospital discharge, or watched a family discover that the long-term care waitlist was eighteen months long when they thought they could call on Monday and move on Friday, you understand what this site is for.
Many Canadian seniors want to stay in their own home as they age. Most of them can. The problem is that the system designed to help them do that is fragmented, under-publicized, and written in language that assumes you already know how it works. Families who understand provincial funding programs, who know how to request a home care reassessment, who know the difference between a retirement home and long-term care, get meaningfully better outcomes than families who do not. That information gap is not acceptable when the stakes are this high.
Our Why
Core Senior Safety is a Canadian resource for families supporting an aging parent at home. We publish detailed, plain-language guides covering provincial assistive device funding programs, home safety assessment and modification, the post-hospital discharge process, the Canadian home care system, and the full spectrum of senior living options in Canada.
We are also building a product catalog of home safety and daily living equipment, selected around what Canadian occupational therapists and home care professionals recommend most often. When products go live they will be chosen because they solve specific problems for specific situations, not because they are the most profitable to carry.
Our Editorial Position
Core Senior Safety does not accept advertising from residential care communities, and we think it is worth telling you why.
Retirement and care communities are genuinely good at what they do. Many seniors thrive in them, and the people who run them are dedicated professionals. We respect that deeply, and in many cases we work alongside them as referral partners, because we share the same goal: seniors living well.
Our role is simply different. We are here for the families who are navigating what comes before that decision, and often for those who want to make staying home work for as long as possible. We sell home safety equipment, which means we do well when seniors stay home safely. That alignment lets us give honest guidance in a way that commercially funded content sometimes cannot.
We are not cheerleaders for staying home no matter what. We are on the side of families having clear, honest information when it matters most. Sometimes that means helping someone stay home safely. Sometimes it means helping a family feel confident that moving to a care community is the right and loving choice.
Either way, we are here to help you find the answer that is right for your family.
Our Founder and Author
I have spent my career inside senior living. Leading operations, building teams, navigating the hard decisions that come with running communities people call home. I have sat across from families in some of the most uncertain moments of their lives, and I have seen firsthand how much the right information matters.
What I noticed, over and over, was a gap. Families trying to figure out how to keep a parent safely at home, often with no clear place to turn and no one in their corner who did not have something to sell them.
Then it became personal.
I am at an age now where many of my own peers are navigating exactly this, and they are turning to me. Phone calls, texts, questions over coffee about what to look for, what to ask, who to trust. I realized that everything I had learned over a career in this industry was exactly what the people closest to me needed, and that there was no good place to send them to find it all in one place.
Core Senior Safety is that place. Built to consolidate everything I know, in a format that is honest, accessible, and actually useful to families who are figuring this out in real time.
My interests are transparent. We help seniors live safely at home, and we sell the equipment that makes that possible. That is the whole thing.
I also know that staying home is not always the answer. After years in senior living, I have deep respect for the care communities that do this work well. When that is the right path, we will tell you so, and we will help you find your way there too.
This is not a faceless platform. It is built by someone who knows this world, who is living alongside it right now, and who genuinely believes seniors and their families deserve better resources than they have had.
I'm glad you're here.
